Dated:26 August 2008
The axis of monsoon trough passes through Ganganagar, Delhi, Lucknow, Hazaribagh, Sagar Islands and thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal. The current meteorological analysis and Numerical Weather Prediction models suggest the monsoon trough is likely to shift northwards towards the foothills of Himalayas. Under its influence, fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Bihar during next 3-4 days.
Yesterday’s upper air cyclonic circulation over southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas of Madhya Pradesh now lies over southwest Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood in lower levels. Under its influence, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity is likely over southwest Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining East Rajasthan during next 24 hrs.
